The first Ouessant lamb was born in Jersey (May 2019)
Ouessant Sheep
The Ouessant sheep is a rare breed of heritage sheep from the French island of Ouessant (off the coast of Brittany and not far from Jersey). Ouessants are recognised for their character, their hardiness and their status as the smallest sheep in the world! Unlike other sheep breeds, they are predominantly black. Today they are generally considered too small for commercial purposes, but they are renowned for their high quality fleece and exceptional quality meat. Ouessant lamb was once a delicacy in Parisian restaurants. They make excellent lawn mowers in our orchards. As you can see from the video they are full of character and surprisingly athletic!
